"Sammy" Clause is coming to town

My Dad did such a great job being Santa today at our MOMS Club kids Christmas party. Everyone was very impressed and I think the kids had a blast.

Gus was terrified when he walked in Gus started screaming and tried to run out the other door. He slammed his hands over his eyes and wouldn't take them off. He kept telling me he was ready to go NOW. After I forced him to sit on "Santas" lap and he got a candy cane he was over his fear and excited for Santa to be there. I had to drag CJ down the hall to sit on "Santas" lap but at least he didn't cry. Neither of them suspected it was Papa under the beard and long hair.

Our friends Lori and Riley stopped by today for a little visit. The boys had been running around like little monsters from the moment they saw each other. Lori and I were just having a nice visit catching up on girl stuff. When it got unusually quiet Lori decided to go check on the boys. It is never good when two rambunctious boys stop making noise. When we got back to CJ's room this is what we found. They had found the stamp pads (child friendly, washable) and proceeded to decorate themselves. We tried not to laugh, but how do you not laugh at this?

Preschool field trip to the farm

CJ's pre-school had a field trip to Wheeler Farm this week. Gus and I got to go along as chaperones (LOL).
The kids got a guided tour from a farm employee and I really think they learned a lot. We also go to go on the hay ride and feed the geese and ducks. If you notice all the boys in the class 8 out of 10 kids are boys, that's a lot of testosterone for Ms. Jodi to deal with.

True Blood Fans

I don't think it has to be said that I am a huge True Blood fan. For that matter I am a huge Charlaine Harris (the author of the Sookie Stackhouse books) fan as well. That being said some of my friends(also huge fans) and I really got into the show this year. We had True Blood themed parties to celebrate the season 2 premier and finale. We had themed food and a couple of us even got into character for the events. I am so bummed that I now have to wait until next May to read book 10 in the series, and even more bummed that I have to wait for season 3 of the show to come back on, whenever that may be.

CJ started school again this week. He was so excited to see his teacher Ms. Jodi, he really missed her over the summer. He is also excited to have some of his same friends in his class again. I am really looking forward to all he will learn this year!

I know I haven't posted in a very long time and I am so sorry. We have had a busy summer. We spent a lot of time playing with our friends going to parks and doing all kinds of fun stuff. We were able to take a couple fun trips, one up to Vancouver to visit Justen, Jen and the girls (Allison, Kayleigh, Emberlin and Ashlyn) and we also went up to Yellowstone. We were also able to take a couple other weekend camping trips which the boys really enjoyed. Gus turned 2 in August, I can't believe how big he is getting!
Rather than go into each and every detial of what we have been up to I just put together some pictures.

I'll try not to let so much time go by between posts in the future!

The other night Gus took a bath at Grandmas house. My friend Shannon was there with me when he got out of the tub. He came running out into the living room bare ass naked and leaped up on the couch. Next thing we knew he was bent over with his butt up in the air and let the biggest fart. This picture is the position he assumed afterward and stayed like this for about two minutes. We were laughing so hard! Thanks Shannon for the photoshop job making it possible to post the picture!

Well I was letting Gus' hair grow out to see how he looked with all his curls. He looked so cute with his little mop head, but people kept thinking he was a girl. So after debating what to do for a few days I decided to cut his hair so he could look like a little boy again!

Arizona Trip

Well I decided since Gus is now 17 months old, it was about time he met he great grandma and great-great grandma on my side. Mom and I loaded the boys along with a ton of crap in the car and drove down for a visit. It was really nice for the boys to see their grandparents and for us to get to visit with them. My great grandma Nonie will be 94 in April if you can believe it. It was so warm down there in the high seventies the whole time (I could get used temperatures like that). I am glad I got pictures of the boys with their grandmas (5 generations still kicking), hopefully they will cherish them when they get older, I know I will!

Santa

I took the boys to see Santa today. CJ was really excited to tell the old fella what he wants for X-mas. He had it all figured out and when he got up there to tell him he forgot one of the two things he was asking for. He was so upset on the way home because he didn't tell Santa about the flippy thing (?) that he wants. I had to remind him that yesterday at school they wrote letters to Santa and he put the flippy thing on his letter. So if anyone has any idea what a flippy thing is I'm sure Santa could use some help. As for Gus he wasn't quite sure about the whole situation. He wouldn't smile and then decided he better cry, luckily the elf got a picture before he started screaming!

Thanksgiving

We spent our Thanksgiving holiday up in Idaho this year with Jasons family. Thursday Jasons aunt Claudia had everyone over for a very nice dinner. Then we spent the rest of our time at Grandma and Grandpas house. Friday night we went over to Rupert for their annual lights on ceremony in the town square. They had fireworks that the boys got a big kick out of. Of course I think the highlight of the trip for the kids is getting to play with their cousins.

Ok as many of you know I am and will remain a Twilight fan and can't wait to see the new movie. I even have my tickets and seats reserved. However I have a new Vampire obsession True Blood the new series on HBO. I have even gone out and bought the first two books that the series is bases upon by and author named Charlaine Harris. For those of you looking for an "Adult" ( and I mean that in every sense of the word this is a pretty graphic show) vampire fix, you should check it out!

All I can say is move over Edward Cullen because Vampire Bill is coming!

Halloween '08

The boys sure had a fun Halloween. The festivities lasted 2 days. On Thursday CJ got to have a party at pre-school and they went trick or treating around the business offices at the rec center. Then later that day was the Fall Line Trick or Treat. When we got there they had set up a fun little spook alley for the kids to walk through. Then we walked around to everyones offices and got a bunch of candy. Then on Friday Halloween we went over to our friends the Sjobloms for their annual Halloween activities. We ate homemade soup and baked goods and then they guys took the kids out trick or treating. CJ loves to go with his buddy Noah. Needless to say with all the rounds CJ got way more candy then I will let him eat. Of course Jason and I have been doing our share to try to help!

Four Wheeling

We took the boys four wheeling last weekend out to the desert. CJ has been begging to go and this summer was so hot we had to put it off. He finally got to get out and ride. Gus was even able to get in on the fun, we just put his carseat in the rhino so he could ride along. CJ loves to ride with his poppy because he goes fast and takes him on the crazy hills. After 3 days and I don't know how many rides we were all covered in dust and had an absolute blast.

Weekend at Cherry Hill

We took the boys to Cherry Hill this weekend for a little "light" camping and some fun. CJ got to go miniature golfing Friday night for the first time which he really enjoyed. We spent most of the day Saturday at the water park and both the boys had a fun time with that. They had a lazy river which we wondered if we were ever going to be able to get CJ off of. They also had a neat kids play area called Pirates cove which had a big pirate ship and little slides just the perfect size for CJ to go down all by himself. Jason, Gail and I took our chances on the Cardiac Canyon tube ride that was pretty fun, the only one who got dumped in the drink was Jason but he still had fun. I think we will make it a yearly tradition to take the kids up there as an end of summer adventure.

Our new deck (finally)

I have been waiting since we moved into our house 3 years ago to get a new deck and it has finally happened. We are so excited to be able to go out and enjoy our back yard. For anyone who came to our house before you know how ghetto it used to be with the rickety stairs and the shock wire around our postage stamp size cement pad. Now we have lots of room to stretch out and put out our patio table. Plus there is now safe and easy access to the lawn for the kids and dogs both. There are still a couple minor details that need to be completed but for the most part it is finished. So if anyone wants to BBQ let us know!

Gus is 1

Gus had his first birthday on Sunday. We had a party at our place and broke in the new deck. It was a lot of fun although I don't think Gus knew all the fuss was for him. He didn't have much interest in opening any of his presents but all the other kids helped with that. He did however think the cake was "awesome" as CJ would put it. Thanks to everyone who came and help us celebrate!

Monster Bus

So we were out at Jordan Landing the other night and I saw something that I just had to bring CJ to do. That child just loves monster trucks and I knew this may be the only chance he ever gets to ride in one. There was a Monster Bus in the parking lot giving rides to raise money for The March of Dimes so of course we had to do it. We had to invite Poppy to come along because I knew we would never hear the end of it if we didn't bring him. So last night we got everyone together for the big event. Jason didn't get to come along because he had to work late and he sure missed out. I had told CJ earlier in the day what we were going to do and showed him a picture of the bus I had taken on my phone, he said he was going to "freak out". He was excited all day about riding in a real monster truck, until we got there and he saw how big it really was. It took some coaxing but we got him on the bus and in his seat. What a crazy ride we did all kinds of donuts and twists and turns around the parking lot. I think the boys had a good time I wish I would have gotten a picture of their faces but there was no way I could have taken a picture while that thing was moving I was too busy holding on for dear life.

In the Fountain

We went over to moms for dinner the other night and the boys decided to entertain us. Gus finally discovered the fountain in the courtyard. At first he was just having fun playing with the water, but soon that wasn't enough and he had to crawl into the water to really enjoy himself. This fountain used to be on of CJ's favorite things to play with but I think he has passed that torch to his little brother. Of course CJ couldn't let Gus get all the attention, so he decided he would shove his face in his cake.

Welcome Ashlyn RaeAndrus Homer

Well for those of you who may not know Justen and Jenn welcomed the arrival of their fourth baby Ashlyn. She was born on June 24 and weighed 8lb 1 oz. She looks juts like her big sissy Kayleigh and her daddy. We are so glad to have her in our family and cannot wait to meet her (they live in Washington)!

I noticed I have been a little lax when it comes to pictures of Gus so I have been trying to make up for it the last couple of weeks. He is getting so big he was a whopping 22 lbs at his 9 month checkup. He has finally mastered the army man crawl but is working hard on getting the hands and knees crawl down. He now has six teeth which you can probably see in some of the pictures below. All I know is that kid sure loves his big brother, and CJ is really getting good at playing with Gus rather that just being annoyed by him.

Trip to Disney World

We just got home from CJ's b-day trip to Disney World in Orlando and we had a great time. We stayed at Disneys Port Orleans Riverside Resort. Our hotel was fun it has several pools and a really neat atmosphere. Every night after dark there were little bunnies out on the grass eating and we saw lots of lizards and a couple frogs which CJ got a kick out of. We spent two days at the Magic Kingdom, one day at Wild Animal Kingdom, one day at Epcot, one day shopping at Downtown Disney Marketplace, one day at Sea World and our last day there we drove out to Cocoa Beach. CJ was tall enough to get on almost all of the rides and we also able to take Gus on a lot of them. There were a few rides CJ wasn't too sure about while we were in line but he was such a trooper and still went on them even if he was scared, by the time he got off the ride he was over his fears. Of course he would have been happy if we would have just spent every day at the pool, I think between the pools and the beach CJ would have been satisfied. He was excited to get to see Mickey Mouse in the parades and shows, we kept missing him at the meeting spots and never got the chance to get a picture with him, maybe next time. My Mom and Gail went with us so I don't think I have to tell you that CJ got everything he wanted, but that is ok he only gets to have his first Disney trip once. I think the guys favorite part was the Anheuser-Busch Hospitality Center at Sea World where they gave each guest two complimentary cups of cold tap beer of your choice. Needless to say they drank their two free beers and mine and moms two free beers. I can't say that I have one favorite thing about the trip other than watching my kids expressions on the different rides and at the different shows. When it was all said and done as worn out as we all were I think it was a great trip that we will never forget. Next time I think we will try a Disney Cruise!

CJ is 3

CJ celebrated his third b-day on the the 12th of this month. We didn't plan a big party since we had our Disney World trip planned as his gift this year. Regardless he still made a haul and had a very busy day. He got up first thing and opened the couple gifts from mommy, daddy and Gus, then we spent afternoon at the zoo with Grammy & Poppy and finished the day off by going to the Morgans for a b-day dinner celebration for CJ and Kristin (her b-day is the day after CJ's). I got as many pictures as I could but unfortunately my battery died on the camera just as we brought out his Spiderman cake, so there are no pictures of him blowing out his candles. oh well

Gus' First Haircut

OK I finally gave in and let Gus get his first haircut. I was so holding on to that little tuft of long hair above his left ear that many of you asked about. I decided it was time for him to look like a little boy instead of sporting the Dwight Shrute/Dr. Bombay look he had going for him. I am still not quite used to his new look but it is growing on me and he really does look too cute for words! Easter '08

We had a fun Easter this year. We spent it up in Idaho with Jasons family. It was good to see our relatives we don't get to be with often enough. The kids had a good time and it is always fun to see them having fun with their cousins. The Easter bunny was good to both the boys who got spoiled rotten as usual. We went out to Jasons aunt Claudias house for dinner and an Easter egg hunt. There were over 100 eggs and only five kids to find them all so needless to say they made a haul and had pleanty of candy.

February update

Well our little Gus-Gus is now six months old, I can't believe it! He is still the happiest baby I have ever seen. He always greets everyone with a big smile. When I took him in for his well baby exam last week he was a whopping 19 lb 6 oz, confirming that he is indeed a subba dubba. He also just had his first two teeth break through the gums this week.

CJ sure has been having a good time with his little brother. Now that Gus interacts with him more, CJ spends a lot of time dancing for him or pulling faces at him to make him laugh. CJ has been doing good with his potty training, we got him a potty time watch and that has really been helping him remember to use the big potty. Today in fact, he said he had to potty and by the time I got to the bathroom he was already up on his stool with his pants down going pee all by himself.

CJ is so funny!

The other morning CJ had a flegmy throat and had to cough to clear it. I asked him if he had a frog in his throat.
Now whenever he has to clear his throat he says "Mommy me sick, I have a frog in my throat" and he coughs. It is so funny I just had to share.

Potty training CJ

Well I came up with a game plan to try to get CJ using the big potty. We created a chart to keep track, whenever he uses the big potty he gets a sticker on his chart. When the chart is full of stickers he gets to go to the store and pick out a new toy. We started the chart yesterday and so far he already has 9 stickers on it. Who knew bribery would work so well. Wish him luck and lets hope he stays excited about our bargain and keeps up the good work!

Welcome

Welcome to our new family blog. We found a place where we can keep you all up to date on the lives of our growing boys and the rest of the family.

Right now CJ is 2 1/2 years old and growing like a weed. He is quite to little jabber-jaw, his vocabulary gets bigger every day. Some of his favorite things right now are watching Scooby Doo and playing with his toy cars and planes. He also loves to help me out around the house, he does laundry, dusts, and helps unload the dishwasher.

Gus will be 5 months old this week, and I don't know where the time went. He just started rolling over from his back to his belly, and he is working on sitting up without support. He is our little chunky-butt (he must get that from his mom). He is now eating baby food and when he sees us coming with the bowl and spoon he starts kicking his legs and gets soo excited.

Jason is still working for Fall Line Studios (Disney Interactive) making video games. He really enjoys what he is doing and the group of guys he works with. He has also been hard at work recording some of the music he has been writing, it sounds really good. We will try to get some of it posted here so you can take a listen.

I am still loving being a SAHM and spending the days with the boys. I got into doing water aerobics when I was pregnant and still attend classes six days a week. I just added yoga into my routine last week and try to do that a couple times a week as well.

Last but not least the dogs Roxy, Rosco & Gabby. What can I say they are dogs and don't do too much but eat, poop, sleep and bark.

Well I just wanted to give you a quick update and keep checking back for regular updates!
